Parents living in New Jersey, raising Pre-K aged kids have plenty to be thankful for. The state has the highest Pre-K spending, allotting over $12,000 for every child enrolled in such programs. It is the only state in the nation spending that much, with others spending no-more than $10,000 per Pre-K child.
Raising kids full-time can work up an appetite, and it’s a good thing that New Jersey has the best diners in the country. The state is often referred to as the “Diner Capital of the World,” with over 500 eateries offering timeless classics such as chicken fried steak and mashed taters, milkshakes, and your all-time favorite root beer float.
Worst:
New Jersey’s big spending on preschool programs may be a dream for parents raising pre-k aged kids there, but before they go bragging about it to others, they should be aware that the state also has a bad side, and it is one that they should also be concerned about: Toxic waste.
The Garden State, ironically, is home to 114 hazardous waste sites, more than anywhere else in the United States.
That’s not all. While the state allots a large sum of money for the education of every pre-k aged child, it really isn’t financially sound. The Mercatus Center at George Mason University puts New Jersey at the bottom of its list, seeing that the state’s finances might not do well in the long-term.
