Best:
New Mexico’s colorful culture and raw beauty are excellent reasons to consider it as one of America’s best tourist destinations. It is home to some of the nation’s best natural parks, with Carlsbad Caverns National Park topping the list. Aside from the park’s 119 caves, visitors can also hike along its three trails or take a drive to see the desert surrounding it.
If you live in New Mexico, you might already know that the state has the lowest average monthly power bill. Residents only pay an average of $76 per month, a figure much less than what consumers pay in other states.
Lastly, the state of New Mexico has the most number of people with doctorate degrees, making it arguably the smartest state in the nation.
Worst:
Ironically, despite having the most people with PhDs, kids living in the state of New Mexico only have a 67% likelihood of becoming successful. The Education Week’s Quality Counts report for 2018 found that education plays a small role in an individual’s success.
To make things worse, WalletHub’s 2018 study reported that the state was the worst place to raise a family, thanks to a lack of quality activities for members to enjoy, poor health and safety programs, as well as substandard education and child care.
