Well, you may be right, and you may be wrong too, depending on what facet of the Yellowhammer state you’re looking at. You see, just like anything else, the state of Alabama has two sides to it: it’s best, and it’s worst.

Best:

So what makes Alabama sweet you say? Well, if you’re a big fan of college football, you’d already know that the state has the best college football program in America. The University of Alabama is known as the winningest school in the country in terms of football trophies, winning a total of 17 national championships, the most-recent being in 2017. The Alabama Crimson Tide, as fans lovingly call them, is currently the top-ranked team in the nation.

Worst:

Alabama has a sour side too.

In 2017, the United Nations did a study on poverty and human rights abuses in America. The study found that the state had the worst poverty among highly developed countries, particularly in its rural areas. Experts were surprised that a hookworm outbreak in the state in 2017, a disease only found in places with below-par sanitary conditions, happened, considering that it was “very uncommon in the First World.
