Best:
Hawaiians are known to have one of the longest life expectancies in the United States, averaging an astounding 81 full years! We wouldn’t be surprised if it’s something in the water that causes this since Hawaii’s beautiful islands are home to 33 miles of swimming beaches. Two of its shores have actually made it to the top 10 beaches in America, with Maui’s Kapalua Bay Beach claiming top spot.
Worst:
All that swimming and surfing does have a drawback. Close to half of adults living in the islands of Hawaii might be swapping serious bed time for catching swells. A survey has shown that 44% of Hawaiians lack sleep, averaging less than seven hours of z’s per night. Experts have, time and again, said that adults should be getting at least 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep, something that Hawaiians clearly don’t get.
Another thing that the state is worst at is tax payer return on investment, which is measured by the quality of services residents receive in the following categories: education, health, safety, economy, infrastructure, and pollution. In 2018, WalletHub ranked Hawaii as the worst among all the 50 states, giving tax payers the least bang for each buck they pay the government.
