Best:
The best thing about sunny California is its ethnic diversity, which is why it is widely considered a “minority majority” state. Not only is the Golden State diverse in terms of race, it is also a melting pot of different cultures, sexual orientations, gender identities, political stands and religious beliefs. It is because of this that Californians enjoy the lowest gender pay gap of all the 50 states. While certainly still unequal, with women earning 11 cents less than the dollar a man makes, Californians still have it better compared to those living in other states in the union.
Worst:
While California’s diversity might make it an ideal place to settle in, the overall quality of life for residents in the state has been known to be bad, if not, the worst in the nation. This is because of a number of environmental and social factors that contribute to this negative view of California.
According to a recent study conducted by U.S. News, people living in California have it bad compared to other states, basing on infrastructure, air and drinking water quality, voter participation, social support and many more. Property prices in the state are also on the rise, another reason why more and more Californians are moving elsewhere.
