Best:
The state of Virginia has always been referred to as the most patriotic state. This is probably because of the fact that 8 out of America’s 45 presidents, or roughly 20% of the country’s chief executives, lived there, more than any other state. These were: Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William H. Harrison, George Washington, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor and Woodrow Wilson.
Worst:
Patriotic as it may be, Virginia does have a dark side. In 2018, the Old Dominion, as it is also known, made it to the Southern Poverty Law Center’s list of states with the most hate groups. The report said that there were 4.4 hate groups for every 1,000,000 people living in the state.
Virginia drivers beware! Virginia is notorious for dishing-out speeding tickets left and right. Not only that, at $2,500, per violation, it also has one of the stiffest, most expensive fines for speeding in the country:
