Utah college grads can celebrate the fact that the state they live in has the lowest student debt among all the US states. In 2018, it was the only state to have a median student debt of under $20,000.

Being debt-free can be quite satisfying, which is probably why Utah has some of the happiest fol in the United States. Almost 85% of adults currently living in Utah have reported being happy and enjoying themselves, the highest figure of all the states in the country.

Being happy also translates to less stress, which further translates to lower rates of unhealthy behavior linked to stress, such as smoking. Only 8.8% of adults in Utah report smoking, which is by far the lowest share of any state.

Worst:

Utah may have the lowest number of smokers in the country, which definitely has an impact on overall health, however, it still has the highest number of a particular kind of cancer. Utah, recorded the highest incidence of melanoma or skin cancer in the United States, with 42.3 out of every 100,000 people in the state being diagnosed yearly.

Surprisingly, for a state whose adults claim to be the happiest in the country, Utah has the fewest places for people to socialize in. It has the fewest number of activity centers, golf clubs, and social organizations per person of any state.
