Best:
Rhode Island is unquestionably beautiful and rich in culture, which is why many of yesteryear’s rich and famous chose to build their beautiful mansions there. Vestiges of these magnificent houses still remain atop the sprawling estates that dot the state, most especially in Newport. Beaches, seafood, and partying, as well as the state’s sterling record for safety are probably the best things that Rhode Island has to offer.
Oh there’s one more, actually. Donuts.
The Ocean State has more donut shops per person than any other state in the nation. Yum!
Worst:
Many look at a place’s affordability when choosing a place to live in. Rhode Island, having a cost of living 22% higher than the country average, doesn’t make it an ideal place to settle in, especially if you’re thinking of relocating there, say, after you retire.
Utilities there are expensive, with its electricity prices being among the highest in the US. On top of that, residents pay exorbitant taxes, and shell-out ridiculous amounts for healthcare. That isn’t good, especially if people there are some of the most clinically-depressed in the country.
Getting around the state can be a problem too, being named the single worst state for transportation by US News, all because vital infrastructure, such as roads and bridges in Rhode Island, are in bad shape.
