The state of New York has a wide range of things to offer. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a city slicker who prefers the metro over the countryside, or one who leans toward the more peaceful, small town life.
The fast pace of New York City calls for everyone to constantly be on the go, and anyone who has live there knows that even breakfast, a meal best enjoyed seated on a table while reading the morning paper, has to be rushed. Upstate New York also has its own allure, far from the maddening crowds of the city. Adirondack Park, a nature getaway 6 million acres big, offers some of the best trails for hiking, as well as slopes covered in powdery snow, great for skiing and snowboarding.
Worst:
Not surprisingly, the worst of New York can also be found in the city. Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs have to contend with the ever-present problem of homelessness, with more and more people living in the city streets year after year. The state has the second-highest number of homeless people per 100,000 residents, with the Big Apple having the highest homeless population of any US city.
Aside from this, getting around the city can be quite an ordeal too. New York residents have to endure the longest average commute of any state, typically taking 34 minutes to get from one place to another.
