South Dakota’s low taxes make it the perfect place for people seeking to live-off their retirement funds longer. Retirees find that the state also has some of the best things suited to their new way of life, which presumably also includes Mount Rushmore State’s reputation as the state that has the most sleep. Over 70% of SoDak’s adults get sufficient, restful sleep, a good number since the national average falls way below that.

Worst:

South Dakota may be great for seniors, but for members of the younger generation, living there might not be as good. Sadly, South Dakota leads the nation in child mortality rates, recording 47 teenage and child deaths for every 100,000 of its residents.
